Fat Removal: What are your options?

First of all, you deserve to feel amazing.

When the weather is warm, don’t you just want to throw on your shorts and get out there? Then as summer gets closer, you probably also start thinking about those problem areas you’ve been able to hide all winter. Extra fat on the arms, chin, or hips may seem like no big deal to some people, but if they are zapping your self-confidence (and limiting your summer wardrobe) you owe it to yourself to see what you can do. Perhaps, this is the year that you decide take the plunge and do something just for you.

Cosmetic fat removal has come a long way in recent years and is now more versatile and affordable than ever. Today, there are both surgical and non-surgical options, many are performed right in the doctor’s office, allowing you to go home the very same day.

Fat Removal, Without Surgery

When it comes to non-surgical fat removal, it’s all about effectiveness. There are a lot of gimmicks out there that promise great results but don’t deliver on that promise. At Danyo Plastic Surgery, we focus on just two non-surgical treatments that we have found create the best and most consistent results for our patients: Kybella and Vanquish.

Kybella

Kybella is an injectable solution that improves the appearance of moderate to severe fat, primarily below the chin (aka, the “double chin”) but can also be used in other areas of the body depending on the circumstances. Kybella works by destroying fat cells located in that region where it is injected. As the fat cells are destroyed, they are removed permanently, giving you long-lasting results.

Vanquish ME

Vanquish ME is an in-office treatment that boasts the largest treatment surface area available for fat reduction. It is most commonly used for the abdomen, flank and bra-line areas. During your treatment, this panoramic shaped machine will destroy fat cells with a Selective Radio Frequency System, causing them to disappear forever.

During this 30-minute body contouring treatment, there is usually no pain and patients often find it relaxing. Most patients see & feel results after one treatment, with inches reduced from the targeted area after a series of 4-6 treatments. Because there is no downtime, you can even schedule your Vanquish Fat Removal Treatment during your lunch break!

Liposuction

You have probably heard of liposuction and have a good idea how it works: a surgeon uses a cannula to suction and sculpt fat under the skin. Liposuction creates more immediate, dramatic results than non-surgical methods and is a better option if you are targeting a large amount of fat that you want removed all at once.

Liposuction Right in the Doctor’s Office? Yes.

With modern advancements, many liposuction procedures are performed right in our Wilmington office. Arms, chin, hips and thighs are all popular in-office procedures. This is a great option for patients who are looking to save money on operating room costs, or for those who don’t like the idea of being in the hospital. Before your procedure, our doctors will prescribe medication to help keep you calm, and will use local anesthesia to block your pain. You will leave the same day and recover safely at home. However, if you are removing multiple liters of fat, our doctors will likely schedule your surgery at the hospital to ensure you get the right amount of post-op care for your procedure.

Laser Liposuction

When skin above the fat layer is especially loose, our doctors may recommend a special type of liposuction that incorporates a laser tip. This laser tip applies a targeted beam to heat the skin, causing the skin to react by tightening over time. The added laser treatment gives the patient an extra benefit of firmer skin alongside of removing fat.
